Positive Prevention

Positive Prevention is a new program we are very excited to have at ACG. The program's aim is to empower individuals living with HIV/AIDS, promote healthy relationships with sexual partners, strengthen the overall well-being of HIV + individuals, and reduce the possibility of new HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.

Components:

There are two components to the Positive Prevention program:

  • 1-on-1 Positive Prevention Education:
These 1-on-1 sessions occur in the Masai Centre and Sanguen Clinic following your medical appointment. During the 1-on-1, we discuss strategies to reduce risk taking behaviour, highlight where to find coordinated services and support, and answer basic questions regarding transmission.
  • Educational Workshop Series:
Our workshop series are a great opportunity for you to learn more about the issues that affect your health and will also help you gain valuable skills and tools for your everyday living. The workshops will cover:

Strategies on disclosing your HIV status
                Self-esteem/Confidence building
                Treatment Education and Adherence
                Transmission Education
