Positive Prevention

The Positive Prevention program's aim is to empower individuals living with HIV/AIDS, promote healthy relationships with sexual partners, strengthen the overall well-being of HIV + individuals, and reduce the possibility of new HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.

  Components:

There are several components to the Positive Prevention program:

  • 1-on-1 Positive Prevention Education
These 1-on-1 sessions occur in the Masai Centre and Sanguen Clinic following your medical appointment. During the 1-on-1, we discuss strategies to reduce risk taking behaviour, highlight where to find coordinated services and support, and answer basic questions regarding transmission.
  • Educational Workshop Series:
The educational workshops focus on various areas of positive prevention, promoting safer sex practices, and improving overall well-being. There will ten workshops held over the next year covering topics such as transmission, sero sorting, sero discordant couples, physical activity, and nutrition.

  • Train the Trainer
A peer train the trainer program will be created for people living with HIV/AIDS to learn how to deliver 1-on-1 education sessions and faciliate workshops. The program will be  a great opportunity for clients to get involved within our organization.
